Testing for Arthritis Avascular Necrosis

X-ray is one of the most common diagnostic tests used by doctors to detect the progression of arthritis avacular necrosis and to understand the condition of the infected bones. This is the primary type of test recommended by most physicians. The use of X-rays, will allow the physician to recognize the factors of the disease and make the educated decision as to whether it is arthritis or a bone fracture.

The X-ray results, let the doctor decide what other diagnosis testing should be used further to have a definite diagnosis of arthritis avacular necrosis.

The bone Scintigraphy is also known as a bone scan and is another test that can help to diagnose this arthritic condition. Bone scintigraphy is often used along with patients normal x-ray results. This is a test that is used to do further scanning of the affected bones so the specialist will know what is causing the AVN progression.

There can also be a biopsy done, which is a surgical method that is also used to diagnose AVN conditions. When this procedure is done, the tissue is removed surgically from the infected bone. The tissue will then be diagnosed under laboratory conditions and be used by the physician to provide a treatment plan.

Another type of testing that can be done is functional bone evaluation. This is a responsive test that is used by many physicians to identify bone pressure expansion. Surgery is required to effectively perform a functional bone evaluation.

The computerized scan, also known as a CT Scan is an advanced imaging technique used for diagnosing AVN. The CT Scan is a three-dimensional image of the affected bone that can show enough of the affected area for the physician to diagnose this condition and prescribe the medication and treatment plan to stop the progression of this arthritis disease.
