Arthritis and obesity

 

The bones in our body are responsible to carry the weight of our body. The joints of our body will not function properly is extra weight is put on our body. A small change in the weight of our body can lead to malfunctioning of our joints. The small extra weight exerts its three times on our joints while normal walking. Arthritis is strongly associated with the weight of the body. There are increased chances of getting arthritis on people with high body mass index. People who are obese tend to fall for arthritis at younger age. Losing weight can dramatically decreases joint pains. The lost weight will relieve the body by exerting less pressure on the joints. However, it cannot reverse the damage already caused to the joints. People with existing joint pains might find it difficult to lose weight. However, there are many exercises which can help you to lose weight without exerting excess pressure on the joints. These exercises are normally pain less.  Joint replacement surgery gets complicated on the patients with excess weight. There are some studies which have found that in obese people the chances of getting blood clots, infection and dislocation are increased after hip replacement. To lose weight these people can involve themselves in low impact activities like aerobics, cycling and swimming.
