People often confuse on arthritis and osteoporosis. These two are very different conditions. They have different symptoms and are diagnosed and treated differently. Twisting the spine, bending forward from the waist and lifting heavy weight should be avoided by the patients suffering from osteoporosis. Arthritis normally affects people of all age group. However, osteoporosis normally occurs in individuals over 65 years of age. Rheumatoid arthritis is the most common form of arthritis. The most frequent victims of this condition are the women. They are three times more likely to develop this condition than men. It is commonly seen on hand joints of the body. Osteoporosis can affect any joint of the body but it mainly affects the knees, hip, fingers and feet joints. In osteoporosis the cartilage between the joints which acts as cushion gets depleted. In arthritis there is an inflammation found on the joints.
