Osteoarthritis is known as the degenerative arthritis and is a joint disorder, which can destroy one joint or multiple joints. This arthritic disease does not stop at the joint, it can also affect the ligaments, the muscle, the core of the bones, the capsule and synovium.
This is also a type of arthritis that has stages in which the damage is being done to the joints, bones, ligaments and muscles. There is the first stage known as osteophytes formation, this is when it is attacking the joints and causing a narrowing of the joint space.
The next stage is called obliteration, and this is when there is joint gap destruction, the erosive stage is when there are subchondral cysts that develop in the bone beneath the cartilage.
Then there is the final stage which is the altering of the bones and the bones try to regenerate, which can cause deformation of the bones that are affected with osteoarthritis. The person most at risk for osteoarthritis are people with low level mineral density according to what researchers have learned about this type of arthritis. |
