Arthritis Gout Attacks and Medication

There are medications that are used to treat a certain types of diseases or medical conditions and some of these medications can have disagreeable affects on the body. Gout is an arthritic disease that can actually be caused by some types of medications. Some of these medications can be avoided, while others cannot and must be taken for the medical condition in order to remain healthy.

  People prone to gout prior to taking any medicines they should be discussed with the physician and if over the counter medications all the information about the medicine should be given to the physician.  This can help to avoid an attack of gout if it is a mediation that can aggravate the condition. The use of diuretic medications, which are taken for treatment of heart disease or hyper tension, decrease the level of uric acid to leave the body. This can result in the formation of uric acid crystals that causes gout.

Common aspirin that is taken in case of headaches contains salicylates which affects kidney function and this, reduces the elimination of uric acid, since the kidneys filter the toxins out of the body.  This increases the possibility of a gout attack when aspirin is taken regularly. Organ transplant patients of an organ are required to take anti-rejection medication called cyclosporine and this can also raise the chances of gout attacks. This medication is made to weaken the immune system, so that the body does not reject the transplanted organ. The result of this medicine that must be taken can also help open the body up to gout.  There are other medications that have been proven to increase the chances of a gout attack which include, Dyazide, Isohexal and Natrilix.
