Causes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis
|
| |
|
As of now, no particular cause of juvenile idiopathic arthritis has been identified. The condition is spreading rapidly in children, but with very little information as to what is the underlying cause of the condition. Medical experts believe that could be a potential link to autoimmune disorder, similar to rheumatoid arthritis.
An autoimmune disorder is a condition in which the immune system of the body starts attacking and destroying the joint tissues for no obvious reason. It is presumed that the human immune system is actually provoked by the environmental changes or there is a probable genetic error in the patient with juvenile rheumatic arthritis.
Experiments and studies have proved that there are some viruses that have actually mutated to cause juvenile idiopathic arthritis. It is a common condition in little girls, and is even more prevalent in whites or Caucasians.
There are various factors that have been identified to aggravate the condition even further, such as genetic predisposition, psychological stress, suppressed immune system and the role of sex hormones in females. It seems that children having a family history of rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to develop juvenile idiopathic arthritis, similarly, females are more prone to the condition than males at all age groups. |
