Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Signs and Symptoms

Arthritis has become a common joint disease in the society today that people may seem to find it unthreatening. But in contrary, it is as dangerous as other fatal diseases especially when it is the children who are afflicted by it. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis must not be left alone untreated because it can cause too much devastation on your child's health--the worst is, it can lead to death if left alone.

JIA happens when your child's immune system starts to reject the tissues which make a thin border between and around the joints. This will lead to more production of synovial fluid which is the primary cause of children arthritis resulting to the inflammation of the joints, too much pain and stiffness on the affected parts. Arthritis, even in children, can by primarily represented by inflammation, however, there are other signs and symptoms which determine the type of arthritis your children may have. They are as follows;

Systemic Arthritis

  • High Fever
  • Rashes
  • Sudden weight loss
  • Unusual fatigue
  • Apparent inflammation
  • Too much pain
  • Stiffness on the affected areas
  • Glandular swelling

Oligoarticular Arthritis

  • Inflammation in larger joints e.g. ankles, hips, knees, etc…
  • Too much pain
  • Stiffness on certain areas
  • Uneven growth of bones

Polyarticular Arthritis

  • Inflammation on smaller joints e.g. hands, fingers, etc…
  • Rashes
  • Unbearable pain
  • High Fever
  • Stiffness
  • Nodules appear in your child's elbows

More often, your child may come across the remission period where arthritis does not show any signs and symptoms. However, this is never a guarantee that your child is totally cured.
