Raynaud’s Phenomenon: The Facts
|
| |
Raynaud’s phenomenon is a syndrome that causes problems with blood flow and is known for attacking the body that is also affected with arthritis. This can cause numbness in the extremities like the hands and feet, which can also cause them to feel cold. The blood is not circulating properly in these parts of the body and is usually only for a short duration.
This can go by different names such as Raynaud’s disease, Raynauds syndrome or Secondary Raynaud, and normally affects people that are over 35 years old. One of the other problems with this disease is that it can open the door for other types of diseases, which makes it important to have it diagnosed and treated as early as possible.
Rather than being painful this syndrome is more annoying as it causes numbness of the hands or feet and does not have the swelling and pain associated with other secondary diseases to arthritis. It also does not have a specific type of arthritis that it is associated with like other secondary diseases.
