Of all forms of arthritis disease, ankylosing sponylitis seems to be the most severe one and needs a serious deal of treatment because if left untreated, the body will become disabled, fragile and breakable. It is because the primary area which can be affected by this disease is the spine which is the super-highway of all the impulses which are supposed to be sent to the brains for the body to function well.
Ankylosing spondylitis is yet another form of arthritis which can be classified under the chronic taxonomy. The term ankylosis is used to describe the fusion of human bones inside the body while spondylitis is the term being used to describe a consistent and persistent inflammation on the spinal column of a person which is a great threat to the life of a person. Therefore, this disease is the persistent inflammation of the spine of a person which may lead to the fusion of the bones inside the body resulting to paralysis putting the person into a vegetative state for the rest of his/her life.
Once the spine becomes infected by this disease, it will inflame causing too much or almost unbearable pain to the patient. Although, everyone would always want take the pain away for good. But one should remember that once the pain will be gone, it means two things; if the person is totally cured which may take a long time to happen or if the spine is totally destroyed cutting the main highway of stimulus from other parts of the body. This is the stated of paralysis to the patient which is more likely to happen especially if the disease is discovered so late that it already has advanced.
Men are three times more likely to develop this disease than women. Children are not safe from this one too. |
