There are certain strains of viruses which can cause severe inflammation and pains in the muscles and the joints. Although, the inflammation is the primary coping mechanism of the body when viruses invade, they will still lead to permanent deformities even if the body is completely healed or cured from the viruses. The kinds of viruses which can cause viral arthritis are the following:
- Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
- Parvovirus B-19
- Ross River Virus
- Rubella
- Barmah Forest Virus
- Hepatitis B
People suffering from the attacks of those viruses may experiences pain in the ankles, feet, wrists and knees. More often, rashes may develop on the affected areas further causing muscles pains; sore throat may also be developing because of them. At some severe cases, high fever may also be experienced together with colds and chilling. The problem is that, there are no known tests which can specifically distinguish whether or not the patient has viral arthritis. NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Ibuprofen would be the best course of medication to be taken by the person suffering from viral arthritis |
